Could an unknown sprinter win the 100m?
So much focus has been placed on Asafa Powell, Usain Bolt and Tyson Gay in the hype leading up to the Beijing Olympics, there is some chance that a relatively unknown sprinter could get up and win the race.
One of them is Bahamian sprinter Derrick Atkins and he says he is read to “pull some surprises”.
“You never know, they might mess around and never make the final,” Atkins told adidas.com.
“Last year, everybody had me paste, for a bronze medal,” Atkins said of the world championships. “And I came in there and I did what I had to do and I got the silver.”
Other possible contender include, Americans Darvis Patton and Walter Dix, Trinidad’s Richard Thompson and Marc Burns.
Who do you think will win the men’s 100 meters?
