Barbora Spotakova wins the gold in women’s javelin throw

Barbora Spotakova of Czech Republic has won gold in the final of the women’s javelin at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games with a throw of 71.42 meters.
Maria Abakumova from Russia won the silver with a throw of 70.78 and Germany’s Christina Obergfoll won the bronze.

Olaf Tufte from Norway wins men’s single scull – rowing

Olaf Tufte from Norway has won the gold medal in men’s single scull.
Ondrej Synek from the Czech Republic has won the silver medal.

Slovakia wins gold medal in men’s C2 slalom canoe

Du Li of China wins the gold medal in women’s 50m rifle three positions

Du Li from China has won the gold medal in the women’s 50m rifle three positions setting a new Olympic record of 690.3 points.
Katerina Emmons of the Czech Republic won the silver medal with 687.7 points, and Eglis Yaima Cruz of Cuba with 687.6 points won the bronze medal.

Czech Republic’s David Kostelecky wins gold medal in trap shooting

David Kostelecky from the Czech Republic won the gold medal in the Men’s Trap.

Czech Republic win first gold medal of the Beijing Olympics

We are only hours into the first day of the Beijing Olympics and the first medal has been awarded to Katerina Emmons of the Czech Republic in the Women’s 10m Air Rifle. Emmons had a total of 503.5 and broke the Olympic record.
