World champion Mao Asada’s skill with the triple axel earned her a victory over longtime rival Kim Yu-na at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating finals on Saturday.

Figure Skating: Korea’s Kim takes first place at ISU Grand Prix

GOYANG, South Korea : South Korean starlet Kim Yu-Na took first place in the ladies short programme at the ISU Grand Prix Friday, held in Goyang on the outskirts of Seoul.

Kazakhstan’s Bakhyt Sarsekbayev has defeated Carlos Banteaux Suarez from Cuba to win the gold medal in boxing welter-weight division.
Jungjoo Kim from South Korea and Silamu Hanati from China have won bronze medals.


South Korea wins gold in men’s 80kg plus taekwondo

South Korea continue their domination in the taekwondo with Dongmin Cha winning the gold in men’s 80kg plus division.
Alexandros Nikolaidis from Greece won the silver medal and bronze medals went to Chika Yagazie Chukwumerije from Nigeria and Arman Chilmanov from Kazakhstan.

Nam Dong-hong from South Korea has won the gold medal in the men’s modern pentathlon at the Beijing Olympics.
Ilya Frolov from Russia won the silver medal and Nicola Benedetti from Italy won the bronze.

Son Tae-jin from South Korea beat Mark Lopez of the United States, 3-2 to win gold in the men’s 68kg division of the taekwondo.
Servet Tazegul from Turkey and Yu-Chi Sung from Chinese Taipei won bronze medals.


Sujeong Lim wins gold in the women’s 57kg taekwondo

Sujeong Lim from South Korea has won the gold medal in the women’s 57kg taekwondo. Azize Tanrikulu from Turkey won the silver medal.
Martina Zubcic from Croatia picked up the bronze along with Diana Lopez from the United States. Diana Lopez is one of three Lopez’s competing in the Beijing Olympics.
