Asada, Abbott win gold at Grand Prix finals

World champion Mao Asada’s skill with the triple axel earned her a victory over longtime rival Kim Yu-na at the Grand Prix of Figure Skating finals on Saturday.

Nelson Evora wins gold in men’s triple jump

Nelson Evora from Portugal has won the gold medal in the men’s triple jump at the Beijing Olympics.
Phillips Idowu from Great Britain won the silver medal and Leevan Sands won the Bahamas’ first medal.

Francoise Mbango Etone wins gold in women’s triple jump – OR

Francoise Mbango Etone from Cameroon has won the gold medal in the women’s triple jump setting a new Olympic record – 15.39.

Tatyana Lebedeva from Russia won the silver medal and Hrysopiyi Devetzi from Greece won the bronze medal.
